Benin’s capital hosted from 9 to 12 November 2015, a regional training workshop on documentation and dissemination of best practices in sustainable natural resource management learned in the implementation of SAWAP projects. The opening ceremony was chaired by Captain Lokossou Orphée representing the Director of Waters and Forests of Benin, in the presence of Mr. Sibiri Jean Ouedraogo representing the Executive Secretary of CILSS and representatives of IUCN and the OSS.
This regional workshop brought together thirty participants: experts from the 12 SAWAP country projects (Burkina Faso, Benin, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Senegal, Sudan, Togo ) as well as experts from the implementing organizations of BRICKS: CILSS, IUCN and OSS.
It allowed to strengthen the capacity of SAWAP projects in the identification and documentation of best practices generated for dissemination to improve the impact of activities and actions in the intervention’s area of SAWAP.
Several sessions facilitated this workshop: the concepts of best practices and capitalization, tools and methodology for capitalization, dissemination of best practices through social media and sawap.net portal, practical work where up institutions of implementation and SAWAP country projects shared their experiences of capitalization of best practices.
This training workshop was also an opportunity to present the prototype of the collaborative portal BRICKS and SAWAP under development and the results halfway of the study on the capitalization of best practices in the 12 countries of SAWAP .
A general satisfaction scored this regional meeting ended Thursday, November 12. Participants of this workshop said themselves full of enthusiasm in front of challenge which is launched to all the SAWAP community: the sustainable development of our countries.
